Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS GRANITE?

Granite is an igneous rock, formed from liquid magma.  The molten rock cooled slowly below the earth’s surface and crystallized over millions of years to form a substance approaching the hardness and durability of diamond.

WHAT IS GRANITE TECH, INC. GRANITE?

Granite, imported from all over the world, is adhered to our engineered cellular structure.  Used in the aerospace industry, this remarkable honeycomb technology enables our product to be installed anywhere.  Our granite is lighter in weight, stronger, more durable and flexible than traditional slab granite and can be used on counters, floors, walls, and even ceilings.  We offer customized inlays and mosaics too.  The opportunities are endless!

WHY GRANITE TECH, INC. GRANITE?

We can save you significant time and money on all your granite needs.  Minimal installation is required and most kitchens can be installed in a day.  This is the perfect option for those that don’t want to pay the high price for traditional slab granite and prefer not to use granite tile. Customers love our ‘green’ qualities as well.

BUILT GREEN?...YOU BET!

We pride ourselves on our earth friendly practices.  Thanks to our honeycomb structure, we use considerably less of our earth’s natural resources.  Our aluminum honeycomb layer is made of all recycled material.  Our factory uses a water recycling system and they continually strive to achieve zero waste.

WHAT GRANITE COLORS ARE OFFERED?

We currently warehouse three popular colors of granite.  Our granite slab colors have been chosen for their excellence in color and quality:

Larger orders, 20 or more units, can select from an array of granite colors.  Please inquire.

WHAT IS THE THICKNESS?

All our granite slabs are 3cm (1 ¼”) thick.  Custom orders of 20 units or more can be made to your specifications from ½” – 6cm, depending on the application.

WHAT TYPE OF EDGE IS USED?

Our slabs have a standard Eased Edge.  Custom orders of 20 units or more can select from a wide variety of popular edges.

IS BACKSPLASH OFFERED?

Absolutely.  We offer a 4” high x ¾” thick solid granite backsplash for all of our warehouse colors.  Use our backsplash or create your own unique look.

WHAT ABOUT AN UNDER MOUNT SINK?

Under mount sinks are not an option at this time.  So far, this has not been an obstacle for our customers who want to save money on their granite needs.

WILL MY PROJECT HAVE SEAMS?

Most installations will require joints, called seams.  The length of slabs, the layout and design of the countertops dictates the placement of seams.  Granite Tech, Inc. installers work hard to minimize the number of seams and will discuss the placement of all seams with you before installing.

WHAT ARE THE CARE INSTRUCTIONS?

You care for your Granite Tech, Inc. granite just like
you would traditional slab granite.  Please see our
Care Instructions for how to keep your granite looking
its best for years to come.

WHAT IS THE INSTALL TIME?

Installation time is cut down considerably with our product.  Since our granite is easy to work with, installation is cut to a minimum and therefore a significant cost savings is passed on to you.  Most kitchen counters can be installed in a day.  Smaller projects take only hours.  Have your project completed in record time!

WHAT IS THE LEAD TIME?

Stone slabs from our Kent, Washington warehouse are readily available and used for most individual projects.  Larger commercial projects can be custom made and delivered directly to the job site, ready to install.  Although most large orders are shipped sooner, we request a 90 day lead time.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY?

All stones have natural imperfections and therefore each granite slab has variations in its color and texture giving it its unique earthy beauty.  Granite Tech, Inc. does offer a 5 year warranty on manufacturer defects and delaminating of product.
